WebThe basic issue is the the PSX is one of the last "bare metal" console designs - it doesn't really have an operating system, and the boot ROM pretty much just loads some code off the CD and jumps to it. While there are low-level services in the boot ROM, the majority of games don't use them and just hit the hardware directly. If your scratch however, is on the readable side of the CD, there is 1mm of disc substrate which can be resurfaced.
