You might reach out to him to borrow it as I did. I had the rod removed in a couple of minutes and shipped the tool right back to him. I don't recall the company I got the adjustable rod from though.

Took a piece of scrap rectangular steel tube, about 1/2" x 1", probably 16 or 18 gauge and cut a piece about 3" long. Then cut that in half lengthwise so I had 2 ...
